ABOUT ANTONIO

Antonio (Tony) De Ionno was born in Adelaide and spent the majority of his early life on a farm property, where he learnt the value of hard work, the importance of discipline and of the dividends one can reap through perseverance. He holds a Diploma in Business Management and, up until his retirement on account of ill health, worked for the Attorney-General’s Department, South Australia.

Tony, having suffered from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME or chronic fatigue syndrome), is well-qualified to write a work in which the main character is afflicted with this insidious malaise. His work will especially speak to, and resonate with the millions of sufferers world-wide, and others combatting enduring conditions. They will find the Jack Funnybone/Fate trilogy insightful and also entertaining and— in a parallel to the protagonist—draw inspiration from his battle in fighting the illness.

Tony has completed various courses and attended workshops in creative writing and relevant to the trilogy, has developed advertising and marketing strategies and performed comedic repertory.

Tony lives in Adelaide with his wife and has two daughters. His main interests are reading; listening to classical music; attending the opera and theatre; watching European art cinema; fine art; and Australian birds. For relaxation and entertainment he likes to watch Australian Rules football, soccer and cricket and enjoys listening to political commentary.

With his passion for opera and the theatre, Tony has also written two libretti (operas) in God is Dead and Killing Machine and a play, The Thread Cutter.
